Longtime teammates Formal and Scump performed like their old MVP selves during their Elimination match vs. Minnesota Rokkr.
Chicago came out hot in their first map of the series, looking to keep the momentum from their win over Seattle Surge earlier in the day. Dashy and Envoy each put in more than 2 minutes in the Hardpoint en route to Optic’s 250-180 victory, their 10th win in the game mode in 11 tries. A big reason for the win was thanks to Formal’s 31-22 performance, with Scump going 27-20 right behind him.
In Game 2, Rokkr was able to clutch up down the stretch, winning the Search and Destroy 6-4 to even up the series at a game apiece. Standy and Priestah led the way for Minnesota with 8 kills each. Dashy’s 9 kills led the lobby, but it wasn’t enough for Chicago as they failed to close out multiple rounds after getting the initial kill. Optic had 8 first-bloods compared to Rokkr’s 2. The loss puts the squad at 2-6 overall on Raid SnD.
In Game 3, Formal continued dominating. Checkmate is Optic’s bread and butter in Cold War, and this game was no different. Formal dropped 35 kills to only 19 deaths and produced almost 6000 damage for his team. Dashy also put in some work with the Krig 6, going positive 8 and helping Chicago win 3-1.
For Game 4 on Garrison, it was Scump’s turn to go off. Optic’s main sub player posted a 32-24 stat line, helping the team clutch up the last two Hardpoints of the game to win 250-215. Scump finished with a 1.14 K/D ratio for the series.
Standy and MajorManiak played an admirable series for Rokkr, as they were eliminated from the tournament, finishing in 5th/6th place.
Optic Chicago advances into the top 4 and will face Dallas Empire in a rematch of their first series this tourney. To see if Optic can get the revenge on Empire tune in tomorrow, June 20th at 3 pm ET.
